In 2018, I got to see the 2001 A Space Odyssey 50th Anniversary release in full 70mm glory. When I heard Moebius Models was coming out with a 1:8 scale model, I just had to contribute, so I worked with Randy over at VoodooFX on his lighting kit.
I wanted to be able to light every individual light on the panel and even separate them with blinking LEDs. So each space for the lights are meticulously mapped.
To save everyone time and the hassle of dealing with painting around each button or wrestling with photo-etch we designed vinyl console covers using Cricut Premium Temporary Vinyl. It is forgiving and wont leave a residue if you have to re-place them in your build.
Finally, the HAL 9000 on the outside needed a black acrylic backing spacer to make the red light look cinema real, so we include that in the kit!
