It was about three months before my son’s second Halloween, and he still hadn’t grown any hair. Since we had done Star Wars for his first, I decided I would dress up the stroller, put him in a grey three piece suit and we would have a little Charles Xavier. So I started this helmet for my wife as a cross-play. Of course he grew a bunch of blonde hair, and started to refuse to sit in the stroller so he ended up going as a cute plush spider.

It did end up beginning an exploratory paper pepakura project using a cnc laser. It was modified along the way to be screen accurate to the movie that inspired it: X-Men: First Class. I learned how to execute paper pepakura rapidly, mix and shoot HLVP clear coat, and matrix molding. I made both versions from X-Men: First Class- the Sebastian Shaw silver/gunmetal, and the Magento red/purple. The finish was accomplished with just rattle-can spray paint. The interior was finished with precision laser cut craft foam.
